Outside the Cinema |Episode #92: Condor DeathMan Trance Episode
Twelve hours have not even transpired since the end of the First Annual Halloween Throwdown, and the boys were back in the studio to record this week’s Outside the Cinema! With the Halloween season safely behind us, the show’s focus will be decidedly lighter for the month of November to serve as a break before the spirit crushing movies for December. In keeping with that theme, the boys decide to risk their reputations. They have devised a list composed of “chick flicks.” However this list is just a little different as explained in the show. The first movie covered is the Disney spy/comedy “Condorman.” Directed by Charles Jarrott, “Condorman” stars Michael Crawford, Oliver Reed, Barbara Carrera and James Hampton. It tells the story of Woody, a comic book artist whom his friend Harry ropes in to the spy ring. Of course, hi-jinks ensue when the K.G.B. think Woody is a top operative. Trivia fact – Michael Crawford is English and played an American, Oliver Reed is English and played a Russian, Barbara Carrera is from Nicaragua and also played a Russian, Jean-Pierre Kalfon is French and played a Russian. The only primary cast member that was from the country the script said he was from is James Hampton who was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, U.S.A. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082199/ The next movie up for review is 2005’s “Death Trance.” Based on the manga, this is the story of a coffin that is surrounded by different legends. One says it will grant you your greatest wish, another says it will release a god that will destroy the planet. Apparently not heeding the second legend, Grave drags the coffin across the country fighting off all kinds of enemies, pursued by a monk, a gunslinger and of all things, a small girl in traditional Japanese formal wear. Tak Sakaguchi plays Grave, Honoka Asada is the little girl and Kentaro Segal plays Sid. Trivia fact, Kentaro Segal is the son of Steven Segal. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0443737/ Are you a fan of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed?
