Today is the day we celebrate Thanksgiving.  As is our custom, we make a list of all things we are thankful for, including health, our prosperity and the necessities of life.  We are also reminded that many of these things come to us because of this remarkable country we live in.    What is the relationship Christians should have to their country?  We know we do not live in a Christian country, so how should we look at the secular government and institutions that make up our country?  As we continue to examine the lifestyle of the gospel, we are forced to ask what relationship we should have with our government.     A.  The universal command to every Christian             1.  Submit to human government             2.  Understand the ordained limits of this command   B.  4 Reasons to obey this command             1.  God puts governments into power at his will             2.  Resisting government is resisting God             3.  Governments exist to restrain evil             4.  Governments exist to punish evil   C.  3 Practical ways to keep this command             1.  Bind your conscience to civil obedience             2.  Pay all forms of taxation             3.  Openly honor your government
