Music and the cosmos This week The Science Show presents a special event celebrating the International Year of Astronomy. The University of Sydney gathered its forces from physics and music for this journey around our galaxy and beyond. Hear how violent, chaotic and dangerous the universe is away from the comforts of planet Earth. When stars like our Sun some to the end of their lives, they explode in a catastrophic event known as a super nova. The last one happened in our galaxy 400 years ago. Some galaxies see them almost monthly! Then there´s the search for planets, and the possibility of extra-terrestrial life. So far more than 300 planets have been discovered although so far there´s no evidence of life beyond Earth! The evening featured The Sydney Conservatorium Brass Ensemble performing movements from Gustav Holst´s The Planets suite.
