Dev4Gamers|D4G - Foot in Mouth - 05.25.06 Episode
James 1:19“My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”(NIV)Have you ever heard the old expression,“open mouth, insert foot’? I have seen, and done this more times than I care to count. For example, while grinding out a quest for World of Warcraft I came across a mob that I could take solo but just like over reacting a mob next to it aggroed and headed for me as well.I was locked in combat and had dealt with the first villain when the second one was making a progress in taking me down. I figured it would not be long till I would see the grave yard again and have to run across the map to where I had fallen. But, there was a Paladin in the area. I will be ok for sure. Paladins have the ability to heal. She dropped off a cliff and was standing right next to me. I yelled out for a heal and waited for that familiar light to shine around me and keep my in combat, but to my disbelief, they ran past me to another mob.I died, and this is where I did not take the advice of this verse. After getting back to where I had fallen I tried to talk to this person. Asked them why they did not heal me, I did not get an answer. Then as I was attempting to get one type of mob in the area, she grabbed it before I could. Argg, I was frustrated. I said some hard things, she then did thesame, then her husband got on, and well, it became something I am ashamed of.After a few moments when both of us had time to think, I ran across them again. I apologized and they did to. It turns out they where a fairly new player to the game and had not figured out all the fine nuances yet. We made up and I told them if they ever needed anything to just give me a shout. Now, that was a good 15 minutes of my life that could have been less stressed and painful if I had only taken time to think, or listen, before jumping down on them.It is wise for us to do the same in real life.
