Anne Fontaine explains how Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel rose from humble beginnings to become Coco Chanel, one of Haute Couture’s most important icons of all times. Audrey Tautou (Amelie, Da Vinci Code) plays the legendary &uot;Coco&uot; Chanel in this enthralling exploration of her early life before she rose to worldwide fame. Benoît Poelvoorde plays one of Chanel's lovers, Balsan and American-born Alessandro Nivola is Arthur &uot;Boy&uot; Capel, the striking polo player who was said to have inspired Chanel's menswear look.
Coco avant Chanel is released in cinemas on 25 June 2009
