Criminal identification
Police artists have helped solve many a criminal case. But in Australia they no longer rely on a pencil and sketch pad. Police are using computer imaging and biometric face-matching to catch crooks. A brilliantly designed system called FACE (Facial Automated Composition and Editing) was the dream of one Victorian policeman and is now being used in over 20 countries to bring criminals to justice.
