Where do I start? In the last 17 days I have had awild ride. Highlighted by a total loss of electrical powerfor two weeks. Ever go without power for that long?It became surreal after ten days. I was beginning to feellike Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. Wind speeds on Sept. 12threached 110 before my wind gauge blew off the building.The "Livable' forest I live in became a mangle of extremelylarge pine trees. I was extremely fortunate to have no treesfall in my yard. My trees fell in the neighbors yard. Mybanana crop was wiped out. [For those following along, I havebeen asked over and over how My banana trees were doing.]My pineapple blew away. It is probably somewhere overKatmandu by now. No phone. No power. I was only to squeakout a few text messages late at night after all the texting twitswent to sleep. This was the only way to check on my broadcastingbrethren around the Gulf coast area. Unfortunately some arestill unaccounted for. Half an hour after the storm ended thatSaturday I was outside with my chainsaw cleaning up. as Isurveyed the neighborhood I could see everybody on my streetwas out and cleaning up. Then we all had a cook out. People werebringing out all the meats that were soon to spoil and we fired upthe grilles. The next night [thanks to my 5" battery operated blackand white TV I keep for just such emergencies] all the guys huddledaround for football night in America. Almost everyone on the streethas been wonderful. Truly caring for each other. Generous beyondbelief. That's enough for now. Getting a little long. Enjoy the set.Glad to be back.rockcast1.
