Jonathan Fry's Personal & Automotive Podcasts|Where's My Free Ticket? Episode

London will host the Olympic Games in 2012. As a tax payer I am expected to foot the bill for this two week commercial sporting event. Londoners will have to pay even more through additional charges levied on them through their council tax.The cost to the public through taxation is presently estimated at £9.5 billion. Reliable reports from people close to the bidding and financing process have openly admitted that the real figure will be much higher than this, possibly as high as £20 billion.Once again the British public have been misled by the treacherous Labour scum who run this country. At least lives aren't at risk like they are as a result of the lies they told to justify the Iraq war.Maybe if Tony Blair had been indicted as a war criminal this mind blowing waste of public money could have been avoided. We would of been well and truly rid of this treacherous Labour government once and for all and Paris could have hosted the games with pleasure. Even the Channel Tunnel would have received a boost in use as British sporting fans would have hopped aboard to watch the games. So who benefits from the London 2012 Olympic Games? It certainly isn't me as I don't even get a free ticket, despite having to pay the bill. The real winners here are the politicians, officials, hangers-on and the handful of athletes who will compete in London in 2012.Look at the closing ceremony for Beijing 2008. Gordon Brown, Tessa Jowell, James Purnell, Boris Johnson, Seb Coe and according to the Daily Mail another 11 ministers and literally hundreds of associated officials and hangers-on. The BBC sent 437 staff, the Metropolitan Police sent 39 and Dorset Police sent 4 people. In total the number of politicians and officials attending Beijing 2008 was more than double the number of British athletes competing there. The athletes are winners too. Most of these athletes have never had a proper job in their lives. They survive on public handouts, appearance fees, winnings and sponsorship. When they come home from Beijing many will receive honours as were bestowed on Steve Redgrave, Mathew Pinsent, Kelly Holmes and hundreds more. The likes of Redgrave, Pinsent and Holmes will be offered lucrative sponsorship deals, advertising deals, product endorcement deals and jobs presenting television and radio programs.Through billions of pounds of taxation a handful of politicians and athletes will benefit personally, some to the tune of millions of pounds. And as a tax payer I can't even get a free ticket.
