Thursday, Aug 21, 2008
A man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his vehicle struck a tree on Lower River Road.
According to the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 911 call reporting a wreck in the 2100 block at 2:40 p.m.
Preliminary investigation by the traffic unit shows the vehicle traveling south on Eureka Road and crossing into the opposite lane when it rounded a small curve. The vehicle then left the roadway, according to the report, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.
Terry Earnest, 53, of Charleston, had died when Emergency Medical Service arrived at the scene.
The Bradley County Volunteer Fire and Rescue also responded.
This is the fourth traffic fatality this month in Bradley County.
