Chibi-Tokyo|Fanime 2 Episode

On this episode of Chibi-Tokyo, Ed flies solo as he recaps our experiences at San Jose's (and in our opinion, the west coast's best Anime Convention) Fanime. Fanime isn't the type of convention where big announcements made, but that didn't make the Dark Horse panel not interesting. Carl Horn (that's right, the mac-daddy, playa'-hata' of the year every year ) was the panelist for this year and even though he said he'd save some big announcements for this year's San Diego Comic Con, he did share a few things such as previews for Manga, such as Gantz, in the upcoming months and also some philosophies that Dark Horse practice in their manga division. He described Dark Horse going after a happy medium. If they were to release manga in it's original right to left form, it would alienate people who aren't familiar with manga, thus they would miss out on great stories. On the other hand, if they were to print it in a "flopped" style, or right to left, they would dissapoint the manga purists who want everything in it's original form. Dark Horse chooses to flip their manga from left to right in order to reach as many people as possible, while trying very hard to keep the original work's integrity. One example of his was Vertical Publishing who is enjoying some success putting out many of Osamu Tezuka's lesser known works for an American audience. A very interesting panel to attend and we look forward to seeing what Dark Horse has in store for Comic Con. Also, this year at Fanime, we had a panel which was titled Mangaka Are All Perverts! and we think it went over well with the San Jose crowd. Our panel was video recorded and should be available soon. Until that happens... let this tide you over. For our first interview, We were able to catch a moment with Jason Thompson. Notable for writing Manga: The Complete Guide.   Next, after attending their panel Why Girls Love Sentai we chatted with Panda Cube and had them explain to what the big deal is with Sentai.
