Duncan thinks that current 3G networks donât provide the experience users want so there is a market and Nortelâs technology seems to have a jump on its competitors. 3.19 â Kevin weighs in with a carrierâs perspective. Which is less rosie for Nortel small product set. Heâs skeptical on Nortelâs outlook. 4.44 â Duncan thinks Nortel is focused on its R&D efforts and that while itâs a coherent strategy, itâs too soon to judge. 6.59 â Mark plunges into the acronym pool with questions on IPTV and VOIP. Duncan he saw some interesting stuff on the next generation of VOIP. 7.13 â The guys jump onto the social network bandwagon and Facebook in particular. Mark wants to know why the Ontario provincial government banned Facebook. 8.27 â Kevin think organizations are afraid of the inordinate amount of time that people spend on social networks but itâs still a valid means of communications. 8.46 â Duncan thinks itâs important to try out the social network rather than just talk about the technology. Like any technology, itâs just as important to shut off as it is to sign up. 9.55 â Mark brings up MySpaceâs push into Canada and Duncan talks about the licensing issues that the company needed to navigate before launching. Heâs worried that itâs too late for the News Corp company to (re)gain market share on Facebook. 10.54 â Kevin thinks this is more about the faddish nature of social networking sites. âWeâll be here all weekâ is Duncanâs take on that. 11.37 â Facebookâs announcement of free classifieds generated a lot of excitement and Mark asks if this is another blow to the traditional newspaper industry. Duncan doesnât think the average Facebook user has either money or assets but does think that social networks need to start getting some of both. 15.56 â Mark dips into the gutter and comes up with Internet porn. He cites a study that shows just how much the Web is used for gambling and sex.
