Though the title of this show is Social Media Optimization and the
Enterprise, a more generalized title for this topic is social media
marketing.
The real story here is how do we market to YOU. You may have seen the
2006 Award for Person of the Year in Time Magazine - it's YOU. User
generated content from blogs, forums, YouTube, Myspace, Blogger, Classmates
Online, MSN Groups, AOL Hometown, Yahoo! Groups, MSN Spaces, Six Apart
TypePad, Xanga.com and list goes on and on. You know what I mean.
You're probably a member of one or more social media sites, you might
have a blog and you may leave comments on other blogs. Possibly you've
written book reviews at Amazon. This is social media.
You likely do what I do when you buy something new - you ask your
friends first-right? Well, that's word of mouth advertising and it's a
huge influencing factor these days with consumers. So for companies
that are depending only on results from advertising in search engines,
it's becoming apparent a new set of marketing strategies need to be
considered for social media.
This is the heart of what I want to speak with Rohit about and boy does
he deliver the goods on this interview so stay tuned becuase this
subject is one you'll be hearing more about in 2007 and quite likely
YOU will participating in one way or another as a consumer and as
someone interested leveraging business value from social media and
interactive marketing strategies.
