Riding "The Loop"

In my opinion, "The Loop" is one of the best rides in the US. It isn't a long ride, but it is beautiful. "The Loop" is about 25 miles long and circles around and through the Tomoka State Park in Ormond Beach, Florida. Along the route, you cross the inter-coastal waterway on a drawbridge, ride along wetlands that are punctuated with palm trees, and ride under a canopy of tree branches. Michigan Trip: Day 4

We hit the road around 1030 this morning and starting burning pavement. Traffic was light, and we made good time. Brian split from Jeff and I around Jackson, Michigan, and headed for Fort Wayne. Jeff and I rolled into the driveway around 530pm. All good trips must end, and this has been a trip for the record books. We travelled nearly 1000 miles over the last four days. Michigan Trip: Day 3

After getting ready this morning, we tried to figure out what our goals were for the day. We decided to make good time to Mackinaw City for lunch. As we merged onto I-75 from Rt. 31, the Mackinac Bridge came into view. We exited before reaching it and stopped at the Visitor's Bureau to re-group. We decided on lunch at O'Reilly's Irish Pub before riding to the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse to take pictures of the bridge. Michigan Trip: Day 2

We left Frankfort for Charlevoix this morning. Along the way, we rode to the Pt. Betsie Lighthouse and through the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The Pt. Betsie Lighthouse was hidden about 3/4 of a mile west of the main road just a few miles North of Frankfort. The Sleeping Bear Dunes took all of us by surprise. Michigan Trip: Day 1

Ride to Marblehead & Catawba Island

This trip had been in the works for several weeks, and it almost fell through. Ten people were slated to go, but half backed out just one hour before we were supposed to put the kickstands up. Glass City Skyway

Today, I took my first ride over the Veteran's Glass City Skyway bridge on the way to Maumee Bay State Park. Traffic was insane as expected, but I'm glad I took that way to the park. Finally Got to Ride

Temperatures got into the upper 50s today, so I started up the bike and hit the road for a few minutes. Rain was approaching from the West, so my ride wasn't quite as long as I had wanted it to be. I also tried out a new toy. It's the ATC2K from Oregon Scientific, and it seemed to do OK. The microphone on it is shielded, so the recorded sound is horrible. Long Way Round

I found out about this documentary over at Rippin-Kitten. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman decided to film their motorcycle trip from London to New York City by taking the Long Way Round through Europe and Asia. Ride to OCC in Jackson

Today, I rode the bike up to the Orange County Choppers authorized dealer in Jackson, Michigan. The dealer's name is G Force Customs. They have been around for about a year and are the only authorized OCC dealership in our area. G Force's showroom is an old firehouse, but they will be moving to a new location in the next few months.
